London’s newest Green councillor

Mona Adam is the first Green Party councillor in Kensington and Chelsea following her defection from the Labour Party. She was welcomed to the Green Party by deputy leader Zack Polanski and our Green Mayor of London candidate Zoë Garbett. Mona feels her values and convictions are more in line with those of the Green Party, particularly on the conflict in Palestine where the Greens have called for a ceasefire since the beginning.

Mona said in her defection letter: “The Green Party prides itself in putting communities first. Green councillors apply shared values whilst having the freedom to reflect community hopes and needs.” A prolific women’s and refugee rights campaigner, Mona is a long-term Kensington resident and activist and was first elected onto the council in 2022.
