200,000 LONDON HOMES AND BUSINESSES ARE AT RISK FROM FLOODING

Green Party candidate apologises again for misogynistic experiment - South West Londoner

July’s intense rainfall caused widespread devastation to property and possessions. Zack Polanski, Green London Assembly member, pressed the London Mayor for assurances London will be prepared next time to protect homes and businesses at risk from flooding.

The mayor responded with a promise to work harder to make the city flood resilient. He talked of creating a new flood-map for Londoners where people can find out if they are at risk with instructions on what to do when warnings are given. He will also work with the government on their project to develop a warning system that sends alarms to modern phones.

Zack pointed out the need for additional measures for those Londoners who have older phones or no phones at all.
Zack adds: ‘We must also heed the warnings on the Climate Emergency and remember that every tonne of carbon we don’t emit today, is a real reduction in the risk of further floods in the decades to come. We must act now to cut emissions’.
