The Mayor’s Housing Strategy is outdated and not fit for purpose, says Sian Berry.
The London Assembly member has urged the Mayor to update his Housing Strategy in light of the many changes since it was first published, four years ago.
Sian said: “Too many Londoners are struggling in homes that do not meet basic standards. Overcrowding is becoming even more of a problem for Londoners. Rents are soaring and access to good quality housing is reducing. A lot has changed in the last few years, and it is essential that the Mayor updates his Housing Strategy to address all the problems that were made worse by the pandemic. Overcrowding has worsened during the pandemic, with research indicating the overcrowding rate rose to as high as 15 per cent in London.
