Greens want investigation into allegations of waterboarding

Following allegations that six Metropolitan Police Officers tortured suspects using the waterboarding technique during a drugs raid in November 2008, Metropolitan Police Authority Member Jenny Jones said:

"If these accusations are substantiated, then serious disciplinary action must be taken against those involved, and a thorough investigation into how it could have happened. The Police should be a public protector, ensuring community safety, not an organisation that uses criminal torture tactics. The best way for the Met Police to preserve their reputation is to take all allegations of misbehaviour seriously, investigate them properly and deal with any guilty officers firmly."
