Cllr. Darren Johnson AM, Leader of the Greens in the London Assembly said, “It is absolutely essential that the European Court comes out in favour of local residents. Residents around Heathrow have the right to a good night’s sleep.”
This will be a landmark decision in the history of civil aviation, one that has major implications for the UK civil aviation authorities. The case was originally brought to the European Court of Human Rights in May 2000, by HACAN Clearskies, a group campaigning against aircraft noise. The Court agreed that the British Government is in violation of the Convention.
