Darren Johnson, Leader of the Green Party in the London Assembly said, "Greens believe that even if the UN were to give a war on Iraq its backing, that would still not make it a legitimate war. A second UN resolution will not somehow make war more just. It will not make it more moral. It will not make it less dangerous or any less damaging. It does not make it right or legitimate.
So we must challenge those who believe a second resolution will make a US-led invasion more legal. The fact is, the UN charter provides no legal basis for pre-emptive or offensive military action in Iraq of the kind envisaged by the US and Britain".
