Greens win backing of Lush cosmetics boss

Siân Berry visited the Regent Street Lush store on Tuesday 25 March to receive the endorsement of Mark Constantine, the co-founder and MD of the Lush cosmetics chain.

Mark is backing Siân as his choice for Mayor of London, and has backed up his announcement with a £10,000 donation to her campaign.

Mark Constantine said:"I’m delighted to support Siân’s campaign. Lush started from small beginnings, and I think small businesses are essential to the life of our high streets, so I really like her idea to set aside space in all new developments for small businesses.

"I’m a keen cyclist, and with climate change and respiratory illnesses increasing, greener transport is a very important issue in London.

"Siân’s got a fantastic track record in winning the campaign to abolish the congestion charge for the cleanest cars and charge gas-guzzlers more. She has the right policies on public transport too, making it cheaper and more convenient, and I know she’d do a great job for London."

Siân Berry said:"I’m so grateful to have Mark’s support. He’s an inspiration and he’s shown what Green business is all about: successful, ethical, and fun.

"To build a tough, sustainable economy we need to be bringing through thousands more companies like Lush, in all sectors. I’ll do that by making sure all new large commercial developments set aside 50% of their floor space for small businesses – the shops, offices and workshops of a new generation of entrepreneurs."
