Not enough of the Mayor’s apprenticeships going to young Londoners

Figures obtained by Darren Johnson AM show that a small minority of apprenticeships made available in the GLA, TfL, LDA, the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police have gone to young people aged 16-18, with most going to people aged 25+. Darren will call on the Mayor to make more opportunities available to young Londoners who face national unemployment rates of 20%.

"I’m shocked that so few of the Mayor’s apprenticeships are helping young people break into their first career. I think most people assume this is the point of apprenticeships, so why did a majority go to people aged 25 and over one year, and less than a quarter to 16-18 year olds the next?"
