Jean Lambert Re-Elected

London Green MEP Jean Lambert has been re-elected to her third term in the European Parliament.

The Greens received 10.9% of the votes in London, up 2.5% from our vote share in 2004.

Jean Lambert thanked everyone who voted or organised for her to be re-elected as an MEP in the largest city in the country. Jean was the fifth MEP elected in the London region, under the D’Hondt voting system for the European elections.

Jean said: "We fought a solid campaign on the issues of importance to Londoners. We’re really pleased that we moved up to 5th place from 8th place in London, beating UKIP along the way!"

Darren Johnson, parliamentary candidate for Lewisham Deptford, said: "This is an outstanding result for the Greens in London, coming 2nd to Labour in Lewisham, Islington and Hackney bodes really well for the general election, where Greens have a real chance of getting MPs elected for the first time ever."

The final results were:

Conservative, 479,037, 27.4%

Labour, 372,590, 21.3%

Liberal Democrats, 240,156, 13.7%

Green Party, 190,589, 10.9%

UK Independence Party, 188,440, 10.8%

British National Party, 86,420, 4.9%
