As Target Constituencies Campaign Manager in the general election, McGibbon supported efforts across target seats and led a campaign which delivered a 10% swing to Green Party MP Caroline Lucas, increasing her majority in an extremely hard-fought contest. He now joins the London Greens as their Campaign Manager, having also previously been an activist and organiser for the Green Party in Northern Ireland, London and Brighton, and in the trade union and student movements.

Caroline Allen, Co-Coordinator of the London Green Party said:

“We are thrilled to have someone with Adam’s experience, knowledge, and insight join our campaign team. His appointment adds another piece to the jigsaw of what is already developing into a promising and exciting electoral campaign for the Greens in London. We’re already building from an extremely strong base – having come third in the 2012 elections and witnessed a massive surge in membership over the past year. With Adam’s appointment we’re ready to step up to the next level, increase our number of Assembly members and put in our strongest Mayoral challenge to date.”

Adam McGibbon, London Green Party’s new Campaign Manager said:

“This is an exciting time. Our membership in the capital has increased from around 1,000 in 2012 to over 12,000 now. The Greens are ready to run the biggest, most dynamic Mayoral and Assembly campaign in our history. If we can harness the power of our massively increased membership and expanding supporter base, this is going to be a great election for us. I’m looking forward to playing a part in it and working with our Mayoral candidate and Assembly candidates – currently being selected out of an amazingly strong field.”

After finishing third in the last Mayoral and London Assembly elections in 2012 membership of the London Green Party has surged and the party trebled its vote share in the recent general election

The party is expected to put in its strongest performance to-date in the 2016 Mayoral and Assembly elections. Jenny Jones and Darren Johnson, who have both represented the party as Assembly members since 2000, are stepping down this year and new team of hopefuls are currently competing to be on the party’s list of nominations for the Assembly. The party will announce their Mayoral candidate and list of Assembly candidates in the first week of September.
