“An alternative to austerity exists” says London Green Party Co-Chair Caroline Allen who calls for a fairer distribution of money and a “return to the values of compassion and humanity” ahead of tomorrow’s End Austerity Now march.
“This Saturday an estimated 50,000 people will march through London to demand an end to austerity and the Green Party will be right there amongst them.
“We know an alternative to austerity exists. Britain is one of the richest nations on earth. The problem is not a lack of money but how it is distributed. Our wealth is holed-up in bank accounts in Luxembourg, splashed on vanity projects like HS2, and invested in the indefensible Trident nuclear programme.

“We have a message for Osborne, Cameron et al: when you look back on your time in charge do you think you will be proud to say your government lengthened the queues at foodbanks and increased homelessness and child poverty all to satisfy the interests of a tiny minority of their party’s super rich bankrollers?
“We’re marching this Saturday for a return to the values of compassion and humanity. Our very future as a society depends on it.”
