“Register today to influence the politics of tomorrow”: London Greens urge everyone to register to vote

On the final day for voter registration (Monday 20th April), Caroline Allen and Tom Chance, Co-Chairs of the London Green Party said:

“Today is the last day to register to vote before May’s general election. On behalf of the Green Party in London we urge everyone to make sure you’re registered and ready to have your say on May 7th.

Why? Because this election promises to be the closest in decades. We’ve moved beyond the traditional two-party politics to a point where seven major parties could have a say over who forms the next government. British politics is at a crossroads and everyone has the right to say what direction we choose next.

The capital is home to 1 in 7 voters and over 10% of parliamentary seats. Londoners, and the issues that affect them, could have a big influence on the outcome of the election. Sadly non-voters outnumbered the supporters of every single political party in 2010. What that tells us is this: the unregistered and “did not votes” can swing this election one way or the other. Don’t let your voice be silenced. Register today and influence the politics of tomorrow.”
