Olympic Park homes to be marketed in UK before overseas

Green Assembly Member Darren Johnson praises the prioritisation of the homes for Londoners as a “welcome commitment”.

The London Legacy Development Corporation has pledged to work with developers to market homes sold on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London and the UK before marketing them overseas, in response to a request from Darren Johnson AM. Darren previously exposed a 100% private development next to the Olympic Park being marketed in east Asia with “no social housing!” as a selling point.

Darren commented, “This is a welcome commitment that will at least give Londoners a fairer chance of buying a home if they can afford it. We need to build homes in the Olympic Park for the benefit of Londoners, not investors from the UK or overseas. The Mayor should also be trying to build far more homes in Community Land Trusts, so they can be affordable to people on average incomes, and stay affordable in the future.”
