London Green Party Assembly Member Jenny Jones has welcomed the decision to make all roads in the City of London 20mph, including those managed by Transport for London.
Jenny commented:
“This is wonderful news and will further improve conditions for pedestrians and cyclists within inner London. It is also another step towards a 20mph London which I hope Boris Johnson will encourage by bringing forward the central London 20mph zone recommended by his Roads Task Force.”
The Mayor of London has paid lip service to the need for reduced speeds, but Transport for London have been reluctant to adopt it on their own roads. If Boris Johnson really wants to reduce pedestrian and cyclist casualties in London he needs to push on with making more and more of London 20mph.”
