High pay still a problem in TfL with 83 people paid over £150k

Transport for London’s draft annual report for 2012/13, published today, shows that83 employees were remunerated more than ten times the London Living Wage (over £150,000), down from 98 in 2011/12. The Commissioner was remunerated £652,452 including Olympics bonuses, a sum 40 times the London Living Wage, up from a remuneration packet that was 20 times the living wage in the previous year

London Green Party Assembly Member Jenny Jones commented:

“Peter Hendy and his team did a fantastic job with the Olympics. But the Mayor and the London Assembly have been clear that huge pay gaps are bad for society. The Mayor should be trying to reduce the gulf between senior managers the staff who run our buses, trains and roads.

“Research has shown that more equal societies are generally happier and healthier with less violent crime. We can’t afford not to reduce the pay gap in this divided city.”
