Green Party Leader, Natalie Bennett marched alongside residents and spoke at the rally, calling for “the Whittington to be protected and for an end to privatisation.”

She continued “The Green Party is the only parliamentary party completely opposed to NHS privatisation, believing it must be publically owned and managed. It is clear that the problems at the Whittington stem from Labour’s disasterous PFI and now the Whittington Board are preparing the ground for further privatisation, which must be resisted.”

Mick Holloway, local resident and Junction ward by-election candidate, whose children were born in the Whittington added “all the evidence shows that these cuts will leave the Whittington stretched beyond capacity and there is absolutely no evidence that community healthcare is able to pick up the extra work. I am shocked by the action of the board, trying to sneak in these changes without consultation. I will continue to fight these cuts”.
