Darren Johnson has welcomed the Mayor of London’s promise to hold meetings of the proposed Mayoral Development Corporation for the Olympic Park in public, and to publish papers and minutes online. However, he has called on the Mayor to guarantee that local residents and community groups can make representations at meetings, and to take the opportunity to offer them further involvement beyond consultations.
Darren Johnson AM said:
“I’m very reassured by the Mayor’s commitments to throw the doors open when making decisions about the future of Olympic Park. But the Mayor must ensure that local residents and community groups can make representations to planning committee meetings, otherwise it could turn out to be less open that a normal council committee.
“The Mayor should also take the opportunity to involve the local community in ongoing dialogue about the wider plans, going beyond the usual consultation process to benefit from their energy and ideas at an early stage.”
