Commenting on research released by Sustrans today that indicates a link between quieter roads and improved air quality, Green Party Mayoral candidate Jenny Jones said:
"This is valuable research that shows clearly that routes with less traffic are dramatically healthier.
"Investing now to help Londoners walk and cycle more will benefit all of us by reducing air pollution, and will save many lives by reducing traffic, improving air quality and helping people exercise.
"The mayor has failed to deal with the problem and to protect Londoners health. We need to act now for a cleaner, healthier, safer city."
