Commenting on Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary’s recommendations on the use of live rounds as well as an increased use of water canons and rubber bullets by police, Green Party Metropolitan Police Authority member Jenny Jones said:
"Endorsing the use of live ammunition is an approval of the tactics of war on London’s streets and implementing such recommendations would be madness.
"London does not need such a dangerous escalation of police tactics, particularly as previous, promising conversations that focused on policing by consent have never been followed through.
"This is not the way to create a peaceful London and the implementation of these tactics would further undermine trust in the police."
