Boris Johnson today won a High Court ruling that will see Brian Haw removed from Parliament Square. The eviction is pending an appeal which must be lodged by March 28.
Jenny Jones, Green member of the London Assembly, said: "Boris seems keen on liberty and freedom of speech if he agrees with it, but not if he doesn’t. Brian Haw’s protest has been on behalf of everyone who abhors war and would like to see our troops come home from Afghanistan.
"The peace protest in Parliament Square is relatively few people, but they represent many voices. We should be ensuring that free speech is given priority, rather than stifling protest because it’s messy and chaotic."
