The London Green Party launched its European elections campaign this morning, 19th May, at 10am. The launch took place at the air quality monitoring station on Marylebone Road, near Baker Street.
This air quality monitoring station records some of the worst air quality in Greater London — for both N02 pollution and PM10 particulates.(1)
Jean Lambert, who was first elected to the European Parliament in 1999, spoke at the London launch. She said:
"As London’s Green Party MEP, I am committed to creating a fairer society and better environment for Londoners."
"I have a proven track record of voting for measures to improve people’s health and environment. Air quality is a particular problem in London, creating serious breathing problems for thousands of people and I will continue to press for action to reduce dangerous emissions."
"I will work to stop the creeping privatisation of the health service and for accessible and affordable public transport. I shall demand action to tackle low wages and long hours."
"London needs a strong Green voice, and I hope to be able to continue my work, representing the concerns of Londoners in the European Parliament."
The London Green Party is running the following candidates for the European Parliament:
1) Jean Lambert MEP
2) Cllr Ute Michel
3) Shahrar Ali
4) Joseph Healy
5) Miranda Dunn
6) Shasha Khan
7) John Hunt
8) Caroline Allen
