LOCOG called on to reassess temporary venues

Tomorrow Jenny Jones will call on the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games to make public a recent review into the possible cost savings of moving the basketball, equestrian, and shooting Olympic events from temporary to existing permanent venues.

The review, carried out by KPMG, only covered three out of eight temporary venues.

"Given current economic difficulties, every option that could reduce costs must be fully explored.  Unless this report is made public there will always be suspicions that it was whitewashed."

"Every venue must be subjected to detailed and transparent scrutiny so that the public, as the ultimate guarantors of the Games, can be confident that there is no un-necessary spending."
