Jean Lambert, Green MEP for London, will be taking part in a fact-finding mission to Israel and Palestine from 2-7 February 2008, with a cross-party group of Members of the European Parliament. The purpose of the visit is to assess the current situation in the region and look at steps that might be taken to achieve an eventual peaceful settlement.
The MEPs are scheduled to meet the Palestinian legislative council, academics in Sderot, members of the Knesset, the Mayors of Hebron and Bethlehem and many other representatives. The delegation has applied to visit Gaza and the agenda for the trip is intended to run approximately as follows.
Saturday 2 February – Jerusalem Sunday 3 February – Ramallah and Tel Aviv Monday 4 February – Ramallah Tuesday 5 February – Gaza and Sderot Wednesday 6 February – Hebron and Jerusalem (Knesset)
