We already have two Green councillors in Camden. Vote for Sian and give Camden an even stronger Green voice on your local council.
Sian was only 157 votes off winning a seat in Kentish Town in the May council election. This time she can win. More and more Greens are getting elected around London and we have two Green Councillors in Camden in Highgate ward.
Vote for Sian and give Camden an even stronger Green voice – an independent Kentish Town voice on your local council.
Sian speaking up for a green development at kings cross in the council chamberStand up for the environment and local services: Many people who voted LibDem in the May local elections tell us they are shocked that the party has formed a coalition with the Tories and are already ruthlessly making and planning cuts to vital Kentish Town services – youth projects, law centres and the Jamestown mental health centre. Only the Greens are committed to decent local public services and a healthy environment.
A Green voice for Kentish Town: This by-election is about choosing which candidate will best represent you on Camden Council. This election won’t change who runs Camden but by voting for Sian you would strengthen the Greens’ ability to stand up for public services and the environment.
Sian already has a track record of gettng things done, even before being elected. She could do so much more as your councillor.
Sian is a founder of the Alliance Against Urban 4x4s, which started in Camden in 2003 and is now a national campagn fighting to stop big 4×4 vehicles taking over our cities. Recent results include the Mayor’s commitment to bringing in a higher congestion charge for gas-guzzlers (with discount for cleaner cars), higher residents’ parking charges in Richmond for high-emission vehicles (which the Greens have also been pressing for in Camden since Agust 2005).
Sian has also:
- campaigned to ensure fair rents for shopkeepers in Fortess Road
- been engaged for several years in fighting for a Green redevelopment in Kings Cross that would also provide the housing needed by the people of Camden
- helped organise local opposition to the Iraq war and GM foods.
Sian is 32 and has lived locally since graduating from Oxford University in 1997, where she studied materials science. She is a school governor at Torriano Infants in Kentish Town, works as a unversity website manager and is Female Principal Speaker for the national Green Party.
