Ann Garrett is a local grassroots activist. She stood as a Green Party candidate in the last General Election and the last London Assembly election.
Ann has been involved in campaigns to: retain Crystal Palace and the Erith Marshes as open spaces; save the Beckenham Studio Arts Centre; oppose the transportation of nuclear waste through Bromley; oppose the expansion of Biggin Hill Airport and a proposed incinerator in Erith.
She has lived in the constituency for 29 years, is a lecturer at Greenwich University and Morley College and has three children. As a member of CND, Amnesty International and Friends of the Earth she is committed to promoting peace, social justice and a sustainable environment.
Her priority in this by-election is to give impetus to the climate change campaign by persuading the Government to adopt the Climate Change Bill, increase their emissions target and influence other Kyoto Protocol countries to do the same. She would also want to see significant legislation introduced for renewable energy use and the closure of all nuclear power stations.
