Greens ask – “Why is Mayor slashing spending on environment?”

“London has terrible air quality problems and we need a lot more action on recycling. When it comes to spin and propaganda, the Mayor throws money around like there’s no tomorrow. But when it comes to front-line services to improve people’s quality of life, resources are getting slashed,” commented Cllr. Darren Johnson AM, Leader of the Green Party Group in the London Assembly.

“Greens are calling for urgent action to introduce a Low Emissions Zone to ban the most polluting vehicles from the Capital, a Zero Waste Strategy to reduce waste and boost recycling and a scheme to link up London’s schools with local nature reserves. I don’t think spending on the environment should be chopped. The Mayor needs to find savings in other areas.”
