Shahrar Ali says:

"I'm standing for election to offer a Green alternative to business-as-usual politics. As a lifelong Londoner, I advocate radical, Green solutions to the everyday problems faced by us all. Elected Greens thrive on service to the people, whether by investing in public transport, holding the police to account, or realising sustainable jobs in renewable energy and waste - to promote quality of life for all without harming the planet."

Shahrar Ali is an officer of the London Green Party and its former Policy Coordinator 2004-09. He is author of the bestseller Why Vote Green, published in 2010, and was lead author of the Greens' 2008 GLA manifesto. He has a PhD in Philosophy from UCL, in which he looked at lying and deception, with specific reference to public life. He entered Green politics after working as a researcher in the European Parliament on the risks of GM food.

In 2008, Shahrar Ali contested the London Assembly seat of Brent and Harrow. His vote increased by 45% over four years to 10,129.
