Tom Chance, Shasha Khan and Rashid Nix are announced as Green Party parliamentary candidates for Lewisham West & Penge, Dulwish & West Norwood and Croydon North respectively, along with ten pledges to Crystal Palace.
The Green Party is happy to announce our three candidates for the constituencies that meet in Crystal Palace, and to launch ten pledges for the local area.
Tom Chance, standing for the Lewisham West & Penge constituency, launched the first of our pledges, to Save Crystal Palace Park. Tom said: “With ZhongRong gone, we have a chance for the local community to lead any investments and improvements to our park. As your MP I would champion it as a local park and wildlife habitat, a regional sporting facility, and an internationally important heritage site, and resist this terrible idea that the hill top is a building site. ”

Rashid Nix, standing for the Dulwich & West Norwood constituency, launched the second, No Cuts to Upper Norwood Library. Rashid said: “As a modern democratic society, it’s a blatant act of intellectual vandalism – of a high order – when libraries, that are used by people of all ages, are being threatened with closure. How are we meant to get children reading and what message does this send out? As your MP, I would highlight this campaign and push Lambeth and Croydon Labour to honour their promises.”
Shasha Khan, standing for the Croydon North constituency, launched our third pledge, to Reduce Traffic and Pollution. Shasha said: “Crystal Palace has traditionally been known as the ‘fresh air suburb’. However, we don’t seem to go through a week without a new report indicating that London’s air quality is among the worst in the western world. I will keep campaigning to reduce pollution from traffic, and to stop the South London incinerator which could mean winds blowing harmful particles in the direction of Crystal Palace. At personal financial risk I continue to challenge the construction of the incinerator.”
