London N19 5NJ

Sue Luxton is the Green Party candidate for Greenwich & Lewisham in the 2008 London Assembly elections. Sue is 33 years old and lives in Ladywell, Lewisham.

In May 2006, Sue was one of six Greens elected to Lewisham Council and now chairs the Council's Sustainable Development Select Committee. Since being elected to Lewisham Council, she has worked to improve youth provision in her ward, to tighten the ethical criteria for the council's pension fund, to save a local swimming pool from closure and, together with the other Green councillors, in getting a raft of green budget amendments accepted.

Outside of her work as a councillor, she teaches English at a language school in Greenwich. She is a graduate of the University of Leeds, where she studied Russian, and is a qualified translator. Originally from Worcester, Sue has lived in south-east London for the past 10 years. She is a keen cyclist and a member of Lewisham Oxfam Campaigns.

Sue was the Green candidate for Greenwich & Lewisham in the 2004 London Assembly elections, receiving one of the highest Green votes in London.

Assembly member and Green Councillor Darren Johnson says: "Sue has proved herself to be an effective councillor who knows how to get things done and knows how to make a difference. I am delighted she has been selected for the Greenwich & Lewisham constituency."
